Autumn will see the days get shorter as we transition into winter. We’ll be treated to nature’s amazing colour palette as deciduous trees begin to change leaf colour to yellows, orange and brown, and leaves eventually fall and provide that carpet of crunchy underfoot - or a blockage in your gutter.
Your plumbing to-do list for Autumn
From a plumbing perspective, a change of season is a fantastic reminder for seasonal maintenance on your home. Here are our top plumbing tips for autumn:
- Clean roof gutters - It’s important to ensure that your drainage areas are clear of leaves and other debris, particularly after a season of summer storms and before the fire season. You can save yourself a trip up (or down!) the ladder by calling us to clean and inspect your gutters for you. We’ll ensure they are intact, and we can make all the necessary repairs to ensure you’re ready for the falling leaves of autumn.
- Fix leaky taps - If you’ve got a dripping tap, either inside or outside your home, get it fixed sooner than later. A leaky tap will never fix itself, and letting it drip only wastes water and money. It’s usually a quick fix for us, and best to do before it becomes a bigger problem.
- Service your hot water system - Cold showers might not seem like a bad idea during the hot summer months, but it’s a different story as the temperature starts to drop! If your hot water system is almost ten years old, it’s time to start thinking about a replacement. If you need a new hot water system installed, we can talk you through options for which system will best suit your hot water needs and preferred energy supply.
- Consider gas - Gas is a fantastic option for heating your home – more affordable than electricity and incredibly energy efficient. We’re fully qualified for gas heating installation and repairs, and we highly recommend the toasty warmth in the lead up to winter.
We hope that these tips have inspired you to conduct some necessary maintenance checks around your home. Call us if you have any questions. We can quote our rates over the phone and we offer reduced rates for our friendly neighbours on the Lower North Shore.
